“Oceanograf” is a specialized research vessel owned of the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography (University of Gdańsk), which its home port is Gdynia. This is one of the most modern research vessels operating in the Baltic Sea region, which can also be used for commercial purposes.
Double hull structure of the ship was constructed to meet specialized research environment needs of nature of the Baltic Sea: bathymetry, biological, chemical, physical, geological, magnetic and seismo-acoustic. On the ship there are also held classes for students of oceanography. Double hull ship’s structure ensures the stability of the ship, the accuracy of the researches, even in rough weather conditions when the sea state is four, and when the wind force reaches six on the Beaufort scale.
The ship is equipped with open aft deck housing devices that enable fishing. Additionally there are mounted net winches, trawl winches and cold storage room for fish (with ice maker).
The vessel is designed for 23 passengers – captain’s cabin, cruise manager cabin, nine double cabins (with Internet) equipped with bathroom (shower cabin, WC). There is also kitchen, mess, pantry, storage room, laundry room and gym.
